King Henry VIII (Eric Bana) lacks an heir. But Henry falls in love with Anne's sister, Mary (Scarlett Johansson), instead. When Mary becomes pregnant, she's confined to bed, with charged with Anne keeping the king from straying -- but the plan backfires when Anne seeks the king's affections for herself.

In 1883, William Gladstone (Ralph Richardson), Britain's prime minister, enlists reputable Gen. Gordon (Charlton Heston) to smooth over the situation in Sudan after a brutal battle has left several British men dead. Gordon, known to defy orders, is received well in the city of Khartoum -- so instead of acting as an ambassador, he motivates the city to prepare its defenses. Despite massive efforts to divert enemy attack, Gordon's new, small army is no match for what befalls it.

Thatcher became the first female prime minister of the United Kingdom and remained as such for 11 consecutive years, until declining popularity forced her to resign.

The Iron Lady

Legendary Hollywood director Frank Capra oversaw this wartime documentary effort, which stitches together newsreel and archival film to explore relations between Russia and the United States. The film also recounts Russia's military history through the use of stock footage and clips from Sergei Eisenstein's "Alexander Nevsky." Particular attention is paid to the Battle of Stalingrad, during which Soviet forces fended off Nazi troops attempting to seize control of the Russian city.

In the face of various underhanded maneuvers by local authorities, 19th century Australian bush ranger Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger) flees to the outback with his brother, Dan (Laurence Kinlan), and two other cohorts (Orlando Bloom, Philip Barantini). As the gang's reputation grows, they take on Superintendent Francis Hare (Geoffrey Rush), while Kelly encounters a little romance in the form of Julia Cook (Naomi Watts). It all comes to a violent head in the town of Glenrowan.

However, within a few years he returns to Georgia, and Kathy is still in her old home -- which the Union Army, led by Clay's best friend, Maj. Will Denning (Guy Madison), is using for a base. Kathy begins spying for Clay, but she struggles with the idea that one of these two friends may kill the other in battle.

Drums in the Deep South

The sinking of the Titanic is presented in a highly realistic fashion in this tense British drama. The disaster is portrayed largely from the perspective of the ocean liner's second officer, Charles Lightoller (Kenneth More). Despite numerous warnings about ice, the ship sails on, with Capt. Edward John Smith (Laurence Naismith) keeping it going at a steady clip. When the doomed vessel finally hits an iceberg, the crew and passengers discover that they lack enough lifeboats, and tragedy follows.
